He has a rich background in the film industry, having worked as an intern for his cousin, Musa Mseleku’s production company ‘Thanx Ma Productions’ and making an appearance on Mzansi Magic’s Isibaya.
Hailing from Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, Mondli Thusi started as a broadcaster at Newcastle Community Radio, where he worked his way up from radio personality and news reporter to programmes manager.
He then realised his true passion and has since looked out for acting gigs.
In addition to his acting career, Thusi is the founder of ‘Stars of Africa Media’, a talent recruitment agency representing actors, models, and creatives. The company has collaborated with productions such as ‘The Queen’, ‘Ubethina Wethu’, and ‘Pimville’, further cementing its influence in the entertainment industry.
Thusi recently landed his most significant acting role yet on ‘Generations: The Legacy’, which he’ll debut this Friday. Speaking to Drum, the actor shared that the audition process began last September, immediately after the ‘Royalty Soapie Awards’. He was sent a five-page script and recorded a self-tape, which he submitted a few days later.
Thusi then received feedback that the filmmakers were impressed with his audition.
